This panel aims to highlight the unique experiences, challenges, and triumphs of young transmasculine leaders who are shaping the future of their communities. Our diverse panelists will share their personal journeys, insights, and strategies for navigating leadership roles while maintaining their authentic selves. We will explore topics such as overcoming societal barriers, building supportive networks, and advocating for trans rights and visibility. Attendees will gain valuable perspectives on the importance of mentorship, community support, and the transformative power of authentic leadership. [3:10 PM] Session V The Intersectional in the Room- Misogyny, Misandry, and Misogynr This panel delves into the complex intersections of misogyny, misandry, and misogynoir, with a focus on how these gender biases uniquely impact Black communities across all genders and sexual orientations. Through a candid and nuanced discussion, Black panelists of diverse gender identities and orientations will explore how societal gender norms and cultural expectations are shaped by race and gender politics, and how Black identity is often burdened by intersecting forms of discrimination. The conversation will touch on the distinct experiences of Black men, women, nonbinary, and transgender individuals, as well as the cultural dynamics that perpetuate and resist these oppressive frameworks. Panelists will engage with themes such as the role of patriarchy, the myth of Black hypermasculinity and hyperfemininity, and how Black LGBTQ+ individuals navigate both gender and racial biases in everyday life.
